{July 12th}
Right after we got back from Kansas, we drove down to Paonia State Park to camp with a bunch of friends.
After we packed up and hit the road, we started to regret taking our 5 month old baby on a 6 hr drive to camp.
Probably a little too ambitious, but we did it.
The drive is soo beautiful and I think its one of the most gorgeous parts of the state!
Driving with a baby took us forever by the time we stopped to feed him a couple times,
but we still had a good time.
A few highs and lows from the weekend...
PROS:
- We seriously have the best friends ever and we had so much fun with everyone.
- The weather was great and it didn't get too cold at night.
- Tried paddle boarding for the first time and loved it!
- Braxton was in HEAVEN.
He loved playing in the water, playing with the boys and Kayla, roasting marshmallows, rolling in the dirt, staying up late, fishing... Every Single Bit of it.
(honestly.... this made the entire trip worth it)
- Everett did awesome for his first camping trip. So thankful for an easy baby!
CONS:
- We anticipated lake front camping with a nice little swimming beach, only to find the only access to the water was a narrow boat ramp.
- The mosquitos were SO HORRIBLE! Like, a major infestation.
I couldn't even have Everett out of the tent.
- We spent the entire evening at a brewery in town, instead of at camp around the fire, because of the insane mosquitos.
- The 7.5 hrs it took us to get home (due to baby feedings and horrible traffic)
Love my boys
Dave gave the boys a ride on the back of his kayak... Braxton was super nervous but wanted to do it because the big boys did it
Overall, I'd say it was pretty successful for taking both boys!
It always gets easier each time we go and one of these days we won't have any hiccups.
Can't wait to go again!
