Grayson is 4!

 {September 16, 2020}

Our littlest Peanut turned 4 this year and it was so fun celebrating him!  I just love this age so much and he has been so much fun.

We just had a little party at home with our close neighbors but he sure loved the attention.  He has been planning exactly what kind of cake he's wanted for several weeks leading up to his day.  He also requested Moana balloons!

Over the summer, Grayson has chilled out so much and has become so much easier in general!  He has been much more go with the flow and just less intense and I think we are starting to hit such a sweet spot with our boys ages.

I think one major reason it has been easier is that he hasn't complained or freaked out about the wind at all this summer!  This was huge for us, as it has been completely paralyzing in the past.  I think he's just outgrown it, but he either wouldn't notice it, or realize it was windy, make a comment about it and then still be ok.  We were nervous going to the lake this summer as its constantly breezy down by the water and he didn't make a peep about the wind once.  In fact, he loved going fast on the jet ski and tube the most!  So dang proud of him!!

He continues to HATE the carseat and fights and screams every.single.time we have to get in the car.  He hates the feeling of being restricted between his legs and over his shoulders and it makes him completely nuts.  (he was always this way with any kind of restraint... hated carriers, strollers, carseats, the hiking backpack, etc.). Its become such a battle and is so stressful going anywhere, so we finally bumped him to the booster seat.  Every single time he's been in a booster he is so happy and calm and it has completely transformed our car riding experience, ha.

It also seems like his language and the things he's said has gotten so much more grown up in the last several months.  He's always been very advanced verbally, but somehow the things he says sound so much more like a little boy instead of a toddler.

Grayson has been obsessed with 2 things over the summer- Papa's elk that hangs up in his Montana house.  And the gator at Nana's.  He asks a million questions over and over every time we talk or FaceTime and has to see them.  All he really asked for for his birthday was his own elk and a green gator.  Mimi and Papa came through with the elk and got him the cutest little stuffed elk head for his room.  We couldn't find a used gator before his birthday so we ended up giving him the little power wheels jeep that has been at the lakehouse and he was just as pumped with that!

Fast forward 3 weeks and I found such a great deal on Facebook for a used gator that looked brand new.  Brought it home and it didn't work.  Oops.  Brian ended up having to take the entire thing apart and replace each electrical component 1 by 1 to figure out what was wrong, but we got it working and Grayson was thrilled with his late upgraded birthday gift!

The only show he will watch all the way is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and he usually watches 1 episode over and over before he will try a new one.  Any other show, he is only interested in the very beginning where they sing the intro song.  I thought Paw Patrol would be a hit like it was with the other boys, but he has no interest.  The only movies he will watch is Moana and Zombies... again, because he LOVES the music.  He is also obsessed with listening to music in the car or on our phones.  He is very opinionated and can tell if he will like a song by the first few seconds!

He loves to play pretend and his favorite toys are the play food/kitchen and any kind of tool or lawn care.  Sometimes he will play with cars or trains and he has just gotten into playing pretend with legos or little guys.

We had him riding his bike without training wheels over quarantine in the spring but he's totally regressed and will barely even try it now.  Its super annoying that he just freaks and panics and won't even attempt it, but we're just letting it go and I'm sure he'll get back into it.  He has learned to fly around on the scooter though and has become so comfortable with that.

He has been begging to play soccer like the big boys but we ended up not signing him up this fall.  We'll start in the spring but he loves practicing during all their games and he's actually really good at dribbling and passing the ball back and forth.

He has gotten such a little attitude and sassy mouth and says the funniest things!  He'll throw big tantrums once in awhile but still comes out of them fairly quick.  When he's mad, he'll make comments like "well you didn't pay for this house!" or "you didn't pay for this car!" (not sure where he got those at) and likes to punish when he's mad at his brothers too ("well you can't live in this house anymore" or "you can't play with any of my toys")
