First Day of School

{September 5th}

Braxton's 1st day of Kindergarten!

Everett's 1st day of Preschool!

Ready for school!
Braxton with his teacher, Ms. Paige

Braxton is 6!

{August 28th}

I blinked and my baby has turned 6!!

We celebrated his birthday with a pool party and a few of his best buddies.
We ordered pizza, made cupcakes and swam and he was in heaven.

We put together his request for a Star Wars party pretty last minute but I had these darling cookies made for everyone to take home- they turned out soo cute!

We opened family birthday presents the next morning

Braxton is so fun lately!
He is smart, and funny, and kind and so creative.
He wants to have a nonstop engaging conversation and most of the time its exhausting.
He talks all.day.long and just has so many questions and thoughts.
He wants to know about jobs and the power lines and the nazis and all the things!
I love that he is so interested in learning everything.

He is so dang smart and we are so proud of him!
He did great in Jr. Kindergarten but he is clearly ready for school to start and for kindergarten.
He loves math and can do most simple addition and subtraction in his head.
He's eager to start reading and has an awesome memory.
We got to meet his teacher Ms Paige at his assessment a couple weeks ago and we are so excited for her class this year.

We decided to put him in a private kindergarten at our church this year.
The public school we are currently zoned for is so overcrowded that they are on a year round schedule and we hated it.  He would have had May off and then gone to school June, July and August.
Colorado is such a seasonal state and there are so many things you can only do during the summer.... we hated missing out on any of it. (camping, the pool, all of our trips to see family...)
It also had a funky kinder schedule where they went full day Tues and Thurs and half day on Frid.
We went to the info night at our church and LOVED the teacher and the curriculum and everything about their kindergarten program.
It is also the same place Everett will be in preschool so it will be so nice to only have to drive/pick up at one place too!
They are building a new elementary school in our neighborhood that will open next year so it worked out perfect for him to go to 1st grade there.

He is still super into legos.
He wants all the sets and can build and play for hours.
He loves the build the sets but is most interested in just playing with all the guys.
He is also so freaking great at just putting together random things on his own.
He makes some amazing ships and whatnot and everything is so detailed (and symmetrical!)
We love seeing how creative and into building he has been!

He also loves all things outdoors.... camping, swimming, riding bikes/scooters, playing games, etc.

He's really into board games and his love language is one on one time (playing games without little brother wrecking them).
He loves Sorry, Connect 4, Checkers (Brian taught him to play this spring) and his few favorite is the card game War.
We have so many more we want to teach him to play but its so hard when Everett is awake/around because he usually ends up ruining the game somehow.

He made some great friends in Jr. Kinder and we've been lucky to have some play dates this summer and keep in touch.
Our neighbor, Parker, is still his best friend but he loves playing with Jack and Bobby too.
And if you ask, he'll also say his best friend is Everett (love that!).

He rocked his swimming lessons this summer and improved so much!!
He can do freestyle (having to roll all the way to his back to take a breath) and make it the whole length of the pool.  He can also do backstroke and learned to dive.
Brian worked with him a lot on holding his breath and swimming under water this summer and he's rocking that too.
We are thinking of signing him up for the neighborhood swim team next summer.

He was such a good helper to me all summer.
I loved having him home!
He basically played with Everett every day and helped out with Grayson anytime I asked.
I am going to miss him so much when he's at school full time this year.
He is such a good boy!!!

We took the big boys to Safari Joes when we were in Tulsa and then to Water World here just before school started.
This boy loves the water parks!!
He loved every single ride/slide and wanted to go on everything.
He had no fear and was game for trying it all.

He has finally started getting an appetite.
I think its a growth spurt, but he's always eaten like a bird.
And the last couple of months he has started eating full meals.
He will eat pretty much any meal I make without complaining but he does not like tomatoes or bell peppers.
Or most other vegetables or fruits, ha!

He likes to pick out his own clothes and is eager to get ready every morning.
He still wakes up on his own around 6:30 every morning and always in a good mood.

He just lost his first two teeth!
Right before we left for Montana at the end of July he showed us one of his teeth was loose.
I definitely was not ready for this milestone yet and it snuck up on me and made me so sad.
He wiggled it our entire trip and finally pulled it out the day we drove home.
He was so proud and the tooth fairy brought him a sparkly $5 for his first tooth.
Then his second tooth was loose right after that and he pulled it out about 2 weeks later.
He got a sparkly $1 for that one.
