Norman

{October 19th - 21st}

Brian and I have OU football season tickets and we haven't made it back to Norman for a game in 2 years.  Last year was the first year in 10 yrs we missed a game... but we had just had Braxton so traveling for a game wasn't really a possibility.

We decided to take a little family trip back this year and it was so good to be back in Norman!  We usually make it a point to see our good friends, Rick & Christi, but they happened to be out of town the weekend we were there.  We were so bummed to miss them but they graciously let us stay in their house while they were gone.  It ended up working out perfect since they live a few blocks from campus (where we were most of the time) and already have baby basics like a crib, monitor, highchair, etc.  Braxton was also in heaven with all of Isabella's fun toys!

Brian's parents and Aunt Em drove down for the evening to watch Braxton while Brian and I went to the game.  They got to play with the Nug and Brian and I got a night out... win/win.

{someone else love Pita Pit}

{Gameday!  Boomer Sooner!!}
{Braxton's first visit to OU's campus}

He Got it From His Mama

{October 19th}

I cannot get enough of this video.  We took several in a row cause he just kept jamming.
Brian and I were dying over his moves!!

Pumpkin Patch

{October 7th}

I really wanted to take the boys to the pumpkin patch with Mark and Jackie were in town to visit.  I thought it would be so cute to get pics of them together with their pumpkins... but of course things never pan out how you plan them in your head!
Most of the big pumpkin patches are up north or near Boulder... quite a ways away, so we decided to check out a little one that was close by in Parker.  My friend, Ellie, mentioned it was a little pricey but cute for little kids.  I definitely underestimated the 'pricey' part!
I've always heard/assumed that pumpking patches were cheap or free to get into and would be a great place to score cheap pumpkins as well.  Ha!  Apparently not in Colorado.
It was $10/person to get (thankfully free for Braxton)...another $3 to do the bounce house... and their medium size pumpkins were $9 each.  I was shocked.

 We walked around for a bit and the boys were really funny in the maze.  Ethan was short on sleep from the night before so there may have been a few minor meltdowns involved after we paid for the bounce house.  We decided to keep it short and forego a lot of the other activites for the sake of Jackie's sanity and headed straight to the pumpkins :)  Clearly I was not spending $9 a pumpkin when I can pick them up at Walmart for $3 each... so we let the boys load and unload them into the wagon for a bit.  Another meltdown and bout in time-out indicated it was time to go.

Although clearly these are not the pictures I had in my head, I'm glad we got a few of the boys together.  Overall, I was pretty disappointed in the pumpkin patch.  I'm thinking we'll make the drive to one of the bigger ones next year!
And clearly we did our pumpkin shopping at Walmart :)

xbox Kinnect

{October 7th}

Mark, Jackie, and Ethan came out to visit us earlier this month and we had such a blast hanging out with them all weekend!!  We ended up getting an xbox Kinnect and had so much fun playing every night.  Things may or may not have gotten a little competetive during the boxing later on in the evening and even Braxton and Ethan got in on the fun.

Ethan loved jumping and playing the games with the big boys... Braxton just loved wrestling around with his big, cool cousin.

More iPhone Updates

{date night to watch the OU game}

{Being a good helper}

{Ice cream right before bed in Vail.  Bad idea... he was off the walls!}

{He has finally showed interest and can pay attention to the ipad/tv.  Playing with Talking Tom}

 {He had to get a lunch box and 'school bag' for his class at daycare, instead of his diaper bag}
{I cannot handle how cute he looks with his backpack}

{Totally zonked on the way to school one morning.  Then he woke up so confused in his classroom}

{Playing on the patio}

{more wagon time.  Love all his expressions}

{Double date with two awesome people.  Love getting to hang out with this girl!}

13 Months

{September 28th}

I don't plan on necessarily continuing updates every month but he is changing and learning so much, so quickly that I still want to capture it somewhere!

Braxton still only has 4 teeth.
(He got his top 2 teeth between 11 and 12 months)

He is walking all over the house.
We love watching him since he looks so much like a little person now.
He is so happy to just stroll around.
He usually finds 1 thing and carries it around with him all day... among playing with his other toys.

He is sleeping so good right now!
I'm probably going to jinx this one by typing it out but oh well.
After 3 sessions of sleep training- he is doing awesome.
We are on a pretty consistent routine of putting him down at 7:30.
We usually give him milk, read to him, and rock him until he settles down.
If he has his blanket, then he recognizes its bed time and cuddles up.
He won't fall entirely asleep on us anymore so we'll put him in his crib anyways.
He usually wakes up, cries for less than a minute and then lays down and puts himself to sleep.
He wakes up right around 6:00am... like clockwork.

Still takes 2 good naps a day, usually for an hour or two.
He is about to move up rooms at daycare and will only get 1 nap in the older room.

He is back to a regular diet and eating like crazy.
He acts like we haven't fed him in weeks and usually can't shove the food in his mouth fast enough.

Can sign the words "more", "eat", "milk" and "all done"
Brian and I totally melt when we see his little fingers come together... seriously, there is nothing cuter than a baby signing.

Can say the words "mama", "dada", "nigh night", "meow", and "nana" for  banana.

We have put him back on whole milk.
He basically just stopped drinking the soy milk.
I don't know if he doesn't like the taste, but he did the same thing with soy formula too when we tried it.
We introduced milk/cheese/yogurt back into his diet and he seems to be tolerating it fine for now.

He does not go to anyone else easily... definitely in the 'stranger danger' phase.
He is very hesitant to even go to any of our friends or family unless he sees them regularly and Brian and I aren't around.

Can do most of the actions to "Itsy Bitsy Spider"
He used to just watch me do them while I sang but I sang it once without doing the actions and he started doing them on his own.
I'll have to tape it... its so dang cute!

We got him a wagon for his birthday and he loves to take rides.
He'll sit there very calmly while we buckle him in and then just sits and holds on with both hands as we walk up to the mailbox every night.

He loves to help with the dishes.
He is obsessed with the dishwasher when its open... climbs right on it and tries to take out the silverware or any dishes on the bottom rack.
He totally loses it if we close the door.

Can mimic a lot of things we do.
We showed him how to blow kisses and within a minute or so he would mimic us and even make the smooching sound.

Loves to drink milk from Brian's (or anyones!) cereal bowl.
Brian started giving him a few spoonfuls of milk from his bowl when he was done with his cereal one day and Braxton loved it!
(he probably loved the taste since he was over the soy milk)
He started begging for it any time he saw Brian eating cereal.
When he sits with Brian eating, its like 1 bite for Brian, 1 spoonful for Nug...
He has even recently started just sticking his little fingers in the bowl and picking out the cereal to eat too.

Is still a daddy's boy... although, I think I am gaining some favor now.

Loves it when you chase him.
He'll get so excited and start giggling when you get close.

Thinks its funny when we catch him into something he's not supposed to be in
(like pulling the filler out of the fake tree)
He'll look us straight in the eye and start laughing like crazy.
He makes it really hard to stay mad when we heard his awesome giggle.
