10 Months

{June 28th}

It seems like a lot has happened/changed this last month!

The first 3 weeks of June, Braxton was very dramatic.
He would have a major meltdown as soon as we left his sight or tried to set him down somewhere.
(we're talking crying so hard he can't breathe)
His teachers at school said he does the same thing with them, too... Wants to make sure he can always see them.
He would also have meltdowns when we tried to sit him in his car seat or high chair.
Glad its proven to just be a phase, since the last week or so he has been much better!

Hates it when we get him dressed.
Will whine and cry but is fine the second we are done.

Is over baby food, and just wants real food.
Almost every day his teachers casually mention to us that we should send more real food
(things are so crazy every night we haven't taken time to make dinner much lately).
Apparently he won't really eat his baby food we send but instead is constantly trying to steal what the other babies are eating.

Has become quite the mover!
He doesn't like to be on all hands and knees but can scoot all over a room.
Since he is somewhat mobile, he's gotten really curious about things... especially loving cords
(and chewing on them).
Guess it's time to baby proof!

He loves to pull up on things and stand.
He can pull up on basically anything and if he is on the couch, he holds on to the back cushions and starts jumping.
It's probably a bad idea to encourage it, but it is so dang cute.
At daycare this week he even stood up without holding onto anything.

He can take steps and walk when holding our hands.
He has also gotten really brave and loves to let go and balance there by himself.
He can stand for at least a few seconds on his own before he falls down.
He doesn't seem to be afraid to fall on his butt (or even on his face)... just wants to stand!
I have a feeling we will be walking soon.

He has learned to sit up on his own.
He rolls to his tummy and then backs up to a sitting position.
Luckily we have lowered the crib b/c recently we heard him fussing and checked the monitor and he was sitting there in his crib (cutest sight ever!)
Then we saw him pull himself up on the bars to stand.
Has started to play more 'methodical'.
He will pull things out of a box and put them back in,
And in the bath tub will play with a few toys together and then set them up on the ledge.

We tried transitioning him off Nutramigen to regular formula since its so much cheaper and he seemed to be doing OK, but he has gotten up in the middle of the night every night for the last 3 weeks (sometimes twice).
We thought it might just be a growth spurt the first week or two b/c he would chug a bottle like he was starving, but he still does it and I think he is getting really bad gas pains.
He will usually fall back asleep right away but he knows the second we set him in his crib and instantly wakes up crying again.
Sometimes it's taken us 30-45 minutes of rocking before he is asleep enough to not notice.
Sometimes we're so tired we just give up and bring him to sleep in our bed.
(need to break that habit ASAP)
We've recently switched back to the Nutramigen but he is still gassy.  I'm starting to think the cheese he eats might not be agreeing with his tummy either.

{Daddy gave Braxton yogurt...thinking he would just leave it on the ottoman(?).  2 minutes later we noticed it was really quiet and there was  yogurt smeared all over our newly cleaned carpet}

He is developing the best personality!
All of his teachers constantly tell us that he is so expressive and funny at school.
He is always cracking us up with his funny faces and antics.

Has really recognized Brian and I as mama and daddy the last month.
He is more cautious of other people holding him and usually reaches right back for us.
After they've hung around for awhile, he feels OK going to them but usually looks and checks with us multiple times to make sure its "OK".
He is always so happy and wants us to pick him up the second he sees us come in to his room at school each afternoon.

Is a very social baby... loves other kids!
He loves being next to them and touching/hugging them.
Our good friends have twin boys who are almost 3 and they love touching and hugging Braxton and are so sweet to him!  Braxton eats it right up!
