{May 19th - 24th}
Brian and I got to spend 4 days in Turks and Caicos at the end of May...
and it was GORGEOUS!!!
We planned the trip with his 2 sisters and their husbands and left Braxton to stay at Nana's in Tulsa.
Flying from Tulsa wasn't the most convenient and we had to take 3 flights each way.
That is traveling from 8am - 8pm... both ways.
We stayed at the Windsong resort and were soo happy with our hotel!
It got 4-5 star ratings but was much cheaper than the other 5 star hotels on the island.
Luckily, we hit the jackpot.
It was a boutique hotel with only about 50 rooms or so.
We got breakfast included each day which was also a bonus.
It was right on the beach and was never crowded.
There were always chairs and umbrellas available and we had amazing snorkeling right in front of us!
It was a pretty low key week without much on the agenda.
Our big activity for the week was an all day snorkel tour.
We ended up chartering a private boat for just the 6 of us since it was only ~$50 more per person than
going with a bigger group.
We scored again and got the owner of the company as our boat guide.
His son was down working for the summer and came along too.
He was this cool college kid who happened to be going to school at OU...
Small world!
They took us to another island where we cliff jumped, snorkeled a ton, found a small private beach with amazing shells, and cooked us lunch on the beach of a deserted island.
We saw sting rays, a family of dolphins, a shark, and a huge starfish.
By far an awesome day of the trip!
We had some pretty great meals down there as well.
Our favorite places to eat/get drinks were Coco Bistro and the small
beach side place called Somewhere (right next to our hotel)
Our last day there we rented a car and drove around the island looking for more beaches.
This one had a few local guys harvesting conch... a local specialty.
They dive for the conch shells, then pull out the actual conch and clean it up for the restaurants.
They were so disgusting, but it was cool to see the process!
We had the best time away!
The most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.
Waist deep, perfectly clear, turquoise blue water that went out for miles and
the softest sand I've ever felt.
So glad we got our little vacation!
