{February 19th}
This might be the fastest 3 years ever.
I still remember every single detail about the day he was born!
Everett is our little firecracker and runs the show in our house!
This last year has been kind of crazy... He has definitely been living up his terrible two's!
(This is probably payback since he was the easiest, most mellow baby ever)
He is so freaking stubborn. If he doesn't want to do it, its not happening.
The last 6 months have been the most challenging so far, but I'm sure a big part of that was adding a new baby to the family too.
He has been so hard at times, but when he's good.... man, it is MAX cuteness!!!
He is the cutest little boy ever!
And looking back, I remember this being one of our favorite stages when Braxton was this age too.
We finally potty trained him just before Christmas.
He had been ready for awhile but we had a crazy fall when Grayson came and I just couldn't do the new baby and potty training while home by myself.
My mom spent a few weeks before Christmas with us so we finally just did it then.
He was so dang stubborn and basically refused to go the first 2 days.
He literally held it in for about 8 hrs one day and sat on the potty for 1.5 hrs straight at one point and still did not go.
He finally caved the 3rd day and we've only had 1 single accident since.
He's totally got peeing and pooping down and even transitioned to the big toilet no problem.
We put a pull up on him at night but over the last month he's woken up dry about 99% of the time so we can probably ditch that too.
The only catch is that we potty trained him without any underwear for the first couple of weeks and he still refuses to wear any.
He literally won't even let it touch his body and has gone commando every day since.
He also can't be bribed (again... the stubborn thing).
We've offered every toy, treat, experience... and no changing his mind.
He is so smart but is a silent sponge.
He won't participate at all if you try singing his ABC's, counting, learning/singing a new song, etc with him... but then the next day we'll catch him singing the entire song.
He just sits and listens and learns things, and then knows them and says them out loud on his own time.
He literally just started busting out all the words to "Country Road" by John Denver one day after listening to Brian play it several times.
I have loved having him home with me this year but he is ready for preschool.
We have him enrolled for 2 mornings next year and he's getting pumped and I know he'll love it.
It will be nice to get a break with just Grayson but I'll miss him so much!
He is the best little buddy with me every morning when Braxton is at school.
He is such an angel and just loves hanging out or running errands with me.
He does not know how to play by himself.
But in his defense... he's never had to. He's always had Braxton here with him to play with.
This year is the first where he's at home without Braxton, but we are never actually home.
Braxton's school is a good 20 minute drive away so we spend most of the morning in the car and running errands. And if we do make it home before we have to pick him up, its usually just to drop stuff off and eat lunch.
So he kind of just follows me around the house.
He also hasn't really developed his own interests either.
He is basically into whatever Braxton is into.
Braxton was always in certain stages.... loved Cars or Planes or duplos or legos or trains....
but Everett has always just played with (or destroyed) whatever Nug has.
He is just barely starting to play imaginative on his own or even separately when Braxton isn't here.
It's especially hard at Christmas or his birthday because we have no idea what to get him... he doesn't really have any preferences for toys or anything.
He loves to play with Braxton or any other friends/big boys.
(he loves our neighbor, Parker, or our friends Caden and Caleb)
He loves to be outside riding bikes or scooters or playing in the sandbox.
He loves coloring and painting (and any craft for that matter!), play dough, kinetic sand, and loves to play with the kitchen Santa brought the boys at Christmas.
He loves Braxton... but we can't say the same for Grayson yet.
He basically ignored him completely the first few months and had a really hard time giving up the baby spot and all my attention.
We have a FEW (total!) pictures of him anywhere near Grayson or touching him.
He has no interest in talking to, helping with, playing with, kissing or hugging his baby brother.
I'm hoping that once Grayson starts getting more animated and active, that will get better.
He has always loved the water and still does!
He has no fear in the pool and we are about to get serious about swimming lessons this spring because he's starting to refuse his floaty as well.
He has been really hard to discipline.
We obviously were not as strict as we were with Braxton and it didn't help that he hit his hard stage right when we brought home a new baby.
He was always his naughtiest right when I had to nurse Grayson.
He doesn't stay in time-out and we have to stand in front of him to keep him there.
And since he can't be bribed... he usually doesn't care if we take things away either.
{all the party kids... Caleb, Caden, Parker, Braxton, Keaton, Hannah, Mckenzie, Everett, Lexi, Ainsley, Kayla, & Hudson}
He is super independent and always says "I do it my own self"
He also says "hold you me" instead of "hold me" and pronounces his F's as B's...
(Goldbish, bishing, etc)
I love all his little language quirks so much right now!!
He is still such a smuggler and we still call him our little teddy bear.
He is just starting to calm down and love being read to again.
I feel like its been so long since he's had interest in books... he mostly just bounces around/plays/bugs Braxton instead of paying attention when we read every night.
So its been fun to have him get interested again.
He loves to watch Paw Patrol, Lion Guard, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and his favorite movie is "Baymax" (Big Hero 6). He also loves Monsters University.
He has always been such an awesome napper but that totally went out the window when Braxton started school last fall.
School goes from 9 - 1pm and Everett would always nap around 12/1pm. Since we get in the car at 12:30 to get Braxton, he passes out and gets a nice 25 minute car nap everyday. I then either have to carry him sleeping into the preschool sleeping, or that is it for the day.
It has totally botched our nap routine and he still needs one almost every day.
Then we we are home all day or on the weekends, he won't go down anymore and naps are pretty much gone all together.
