Things I Want to Remember

Braxton is currently obsessed with all things Toy Story and Lightning McQueen...
Toy Story is the first disney movie that he watches intently all the way through and seems to really understand the plot.
He talks about and plays with Woody and Buzz Lightyear every single day.
He is also still obsessed with Cars and Lightning McQueen...
He has a little hot wheels McQueen that never leaves his hands. Ever.
He falls asleep with it in his hand and somehow its almost always in his hand when he wakes up.
We went and bought a few replacements because things could fall apart when we lose him.

He talks non stop in the car (and at home, for that matter) and asks a million questions.
Mostly... "what is (so and so) doing?"
What are you doing mama?  What is he doing?  What is that car doing? etc...
He always asks the same question about 4 times in a row too, even if we answer it the same each time.

He always requests pasta for dinner.
And peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch.
And applesauce for snacks.

He doesn't really care what I dress him in for the day but he always has to pick out which coat he wears.

He tests his limits on everything.
He will not listen or follow directions until we get to 3 in "1, 2, 3" and threaten time-out.

He loves the book "Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site" and has most pages memorized.
He can completely read/recite the first 2 pages by himself.
At the end of each vehicle we always say "shhhh..." and he finishes with "goodnight crane truck, goodnight" (or whatever truck we're on).
Melts me every time.
He also loves the "How do Dinosaurs... " series.

He can spot every single crane truck, excavator, bulldozer, cement truck, & front loader when we pass them and loves to call them out.
He also spots planes in the sky like a hawk.  Especially when we're driving in the car.

He plays so good by himself and has such a good imagination!
It is my favorite thing to hear him jabbering non stop in there playing with all his trucks and legos and whatnot.

He is such a little parrot.
He repeats back to us the things or phrases we use on him at random times.
(specifically all the things we say around bedtime)
The other day we were driving in the car and Everett started whining/crying.
Braxton starts saying "It's ok buddy" and "I know, buddy"

He is still all boy...
He's really into building forts, legos, cars/trucks/trains, tools, and playing football and soccer.

Loves to be outside and help Brian with yard work.
Still also loves to go to Lowes and walks around like he owns the place.
He strolls the aisles sniping random things off the shelf and carries them around like you're buying them for him.

We've started playing games with him before bed and he loves it.
Right now we're on Memory and Chutes and Ladders.
He doesn't entirely get the rules with Chutes and Ladders- mostly just wants to climb the big ladder and slide down the big slide.
But he is pretty awesome at Memory.

He loves playing with older boys!
Our friends have twin boys that are 2 yrs older then him and he loves them!
He always requests to have "the boys" come over and play.
He's known them since he was a newborn and he used to just be a cute baby to them.
I'm pretty sure he bugs them like a little annoying brother now, ha!
But they are also so sweet to him to and always looking out for him.
It's really fun that he's getting old enough to really play with other kids now.

Baby Faces

Braxton has been obsessed with a book we have called "Baby Faces"
It basically just shows a little baby doing the faces of different emotions and we practice them every night before bed.
Here he is doing a few of them with daddy...

Happy

Surprised :: Sad

Angry

Puzzled :: Worried

1 Month Old

{March 19th}

Time is flying by again and I can't believe this little peanut is already 1 month old!!
He has been the sweetest baby so far and this stage seems much easier the second time around.
(things are not easy with a baby and 2 yr old...  this baby is just easier!)

He has been a good eater and I think we're getting the nursing thing down pretty well,
although I don't have anything to compare it to since I had to pump with Braxton.
He grunts and squeaks the whole time he eats, though and seems to eat pretty fast.
He also burps great and doesn't spit up too much.
(a complete opposite from Braxton who has waterfalls coming out every time he ate)

For the most part he eats every 3 hrs but this last week its more like 2 hrs.
I keep telling myself its just a growth spurt but are growth spurts supposed to last this long?!
We gave him his first bottle last week and he took it like a champ.
I'm trying to pump some so we can give him more but the 2 hr spans are sort of killing that for now.

He always goes 3 hrs at night and I usually get at least 1 four hr stretch too.
He almost always goes right back to sleep when he eats in the middle of the night so hopefully that sticks too and he'll have his days/nights figured out soon.

He is most awake in the mid morning or late at night between 7 and 10 before we go to bed.

He sleeps really well swaddled but also seems to do pretty good when not as well.

We just moved him into his own crib at night.
He seems to sleep good on both his back and his tummy.
We'll always put him on his back at night but I'll occasionally put him on his tummy when he naps during the day.

We get the occasional smile but nothing intentional yet.

His eyes look like they are turning blue but we're still waiting to see.

He has become quite the little chunk
(although he had a head start since he came out at 9 lbs)
He easily fits in 0-3 month clothes and some are even getting too tight or short on him.

When he is mad, he lets us know!  Its usually just 1 loud cry/yell to get our attention so we'll come pick him up.

He seems to prefer the bouncy chair to the swing but obviously loves to be held the best.

Will usually take a pacifier when he's fussy.

Loves bath time! He has since his first one... Just sits there really calm and happy the whole time.

Braxton has been sweeter and sweeter with him and will always let us know when the baby starts crying.
He's also started showing him toys and interacting with him a bit more.
I still can't believe we have two little boys!

(can't leave out crazy big brother)
