Two of us got our first pair of cowboy boots earlier this month.  I'm affraid hers are much more fun and adorable than mine...

First Birthday

My niece Lorraine is 1!!! 

(technically she's not 1 until April 19th, but we celebrated early) 

Brian and I met up with my parents down in Austin over Easter weekend to hang out and celebrate this little munchkins birthday.  We spent most of our time just hanging around the house and made it out to the park to grill out one afternoon.  This was also my first chance to play with my camera with a cute human subject so all the pictures from the trip are of Lo.  Oops!

Her favorite present was definitely this little piano.  She would 'play', then we would all clap and cheer for her.  When we clapped and cheered, she clapped and cheered for herself .

So thrilled!!!

One Year Older

I turned the big 27 today.  I get to celebrate little by little throughout the week but today was a really great day!! 

We met some sweet friends last night for sushi...

My sweet husband got up early to make me breakfast (and did the dishes!)...

I had Starbucks twice today... the obligatory cup as I walked into my office, and again after work for a much needed catch up session with a good friend.  (it's OK to spend extra money on overpriced calories on your birthday, right??)

Came home to these sweet flowers (again from the hubby)

AND, got to hang out and make homemade pizza for dinner (bbq chicken, avacado...delicious!)  We had plans to light the chiminea and hang out on the deck since we are having great weather this week but it got a little too cold.  (hopefully tomorrow night!)

Next up.... more best friend time on Wednesday and heading to Austin for the weekend to meet up with my parents, brother & sister-in-law and my favorite niece Lo

Switchyard Social Club

One of my best friends was in town visiting this week for her spring break!  I miss her so much but everytime we see each other and hang out it feels so normal, like she just lives here or something.  Although we spent all of Thursday at the car dealership dealing with tire/wheel problems (poor thing!), we did make it out to a country concert on Thursday night.  Two of Brian's friends at work are in a band (they found the other 2 members on Craigs List).  They've only played like 3 or 4 shows together but they are SO GOOD and so much fun to see play!  It's usually just a bunch of people from work (and families) that make it to the show but the one this week was such a blast!  Here are my favorite pics from the SSC concert...

Weekend Update

What we were up to last weekend:

- Got these cheap beauties at Target and they have officially become my new favorite shoes.  I'm almost tempted to go get a second pair in case these wear out too fast.  Do you ever do that??  Buy two of something or buy it in every color they offer just because you love it so much?!   (hopefully I'm not the only one)

- Went skiing at A-Basin.  PERFECT spring skiing weather (just how I like it!)... sunny and warm and calm. 

- Inspired by this project, I attempted to start cleaning out all the extra stuff/junk/clothes we have throughout the house and garage.  Due to my Type-A personality and obsession urge to organize, our house is pretty lean as it is... but there's always more to get rid of.

- Finally got my birthday present from Brian!  Can't wait to start learning and using it!!  I have the best husband.

Mexico

Brian and I recently spent a long weekend in Mexico for a friends wedding.  The weather wasn't as hot as we expected, but it was still much warmer than CO and therefore a good time.

Alicia's wedding was small and simple...

The ceremony was at sunsest in a little gazebo on the beach and the reception was also on the beach, set up a little ways down.

The shower floor was sloped the wrong way in the first room we got so when you took a shower, the whole bathroom flooded.  When they moved us to a different room, they didn't have any more king beds so they pushed the two full beds together to try to make up for it.  Brian and I thought it was pretty funny:

For our first trip down there- we had a good time and were thankful to not get sick (after a few horror stories about the water)!!  We hung out at the pool and beach, went snorkeling, got massages and had a great time at the wedding!

So Ready...

... for our vacation this weekend!!!  We are headed down to Mexico for a friends wedding and they could not have planned it for a more perfect time!  We CANNOT WAIT to get out of this cold, snowy Denver weather and be hanging out on the beach.  It's a short trip- only 4 days- but just enough for us to relax, recharge and warm up.
